We are located in the 2* Les Bains Salés campsite at 162 avenue du Lieutenant-Tourtet in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne (17110). Halfway between La Rochelle (17000) and Bordeaux (33000), our open-air hostel is a 10-minute walk from Vallières beach and 3km from the Central Market in Royan (17200). The nearest train station is 1.5km away.

Petanque courts, a children’s play area and a launderette are available on the campsite.

3 surf spots in and around Royan are a must:

  • Pontaillac beach is a family beach with a reputation for great waves all year round for beginners and experienced surfers alike.
  • further north, Nauzan beach is an ideal spot for experienced surfers to learn to surf at their own pace and in complete safety
  • the beaches of the Côte Sauvage, between La Palmyre and La Tremblade, are frequented by experienced surfers

Nestling between the Gironde estuary and the Cordouan lighthouse, this is an ideal location for exploring part of the Charente region:

  • For the sporty, there are many walking and cycling routes to discover, but you can also try your hand at sand yachting on the Grande Plage at low tide.
  • Oenophiles can sample local products such as Charentais wines, cognac and pineau des Charentes.
  • For gourmets, enjoy Royan’s Marché Central, the town’s emblematic building, open every day from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to find the region’s best products.
